About Photon
Structure. Model. Participation.
It is a curated cinematic platform being built with intention.
1. Who Is Building This
PHOTON was founded by Guillermo Valderrama, an independent filmmaker with over 10 years of experience in the indie ecosystem.
Graduate of Vancouver Film School (Writing for Film, TV & Games program).
Recipient of one of only five scholarships across Latin America granted by the Monterrey International Film Festival (2022).
Recognized as Intern of the Year at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (2022), selected among more than 400 volunteers and interns at one of the most respected film festivals in the United States.
PHOTON is being developed in British Columbia, with technological partners and collaborators across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
This is not speculative. It is operational.
2. What PHOTON Actually Is
PHOTON is a curated streaming platform launching in 2027.
It is web-first.
It is subscription-based.
It is built around editorial selection, not algorithmic exposure.
It does not function as:
• An open upload website
• A social media platform
• An automated content feed
It functions as a controlled, curated cinematic environment.
Every work is reviewed before entering the platform.
3. Who Can Apply as Creator
You can apply if you have:
• A finished short film
• A finished feature film
• A documentary
• A limited series
• An animated project
• An experimental work
We do not accept undeveloped ideas without structure.
We evaluate:
• Narrative clarity
• Creative coherence
• Authorial intention
• Audience engagement potential
We do not evaluate based on followers, trends, or market hype.
Creators retain ownership of their work.
PHOTON operates through licensing agreements, not acquisition of intellectual property.
4. How the Revenue Model Works
PHOTON launches with an intentionally accessible subscription model.
From net subscription revenue:
50% is allocated exclusively to creators with active works on the platform.
That allocation is divided into:
• A base participation layer (shared equally among active works)
• A performance-based layer (distributed according to real engagement)
Engagement is measured through viewing behavior and retention.
Not likes.
Not artificial metrics.
Not inflated visibility.
Creators receive transparent reporting under contractual terms.
The model is designed for long-term sustainability.
5. What PHOTON Does Not Offer
To avoid misunderstandings:
PHOTON does not guarantee:
• Immediate fame
• Instant income
• Viral exposure
PHOTON offers structure.
It offers participation in building a curated ecosystem from its origin stage.
6. The Foundation Model
20% of PHOTON’s structural allocation supports children in vulnerable situations and artistic access initiatives.
This is integrated into the model.
It is not a temporary campaign.
7. Why We Are Launching in 2027
We are building deliberately.
Technology
Legal structure
Creator base
Editorial identity
Community infrastructure
Launching without foundation would be irresponsible.
We prefer precision over speed.
8. Apply as Creator
If you have a completed work and believe it aligns with a curated cinematic ecosystem:
You will receive clear next steps and evaluation guidelines.
9. Apply as Ambassador
If you resonate with this structure but do not yet have a finished project, or if you believe in helping us discover the filmmakers of tomorrow:
Ambassadors help:
• Identify emerging creators
• Expand the network
• Strengthen the ecosystem before launch
This role is about participation in construction.
