Cinema was never meant to divide. It was meant to gather us in the dark.
It was meant to entertain first. To captivate. To pull us somewhere else for two hours and make us forget the noise outside.
Cinema is not background sound while we scroll. It is not something playing while we cook or answer messages. It is not content to fill silence.
It is a moment.
A moment when we put the phone down. When we lean forward. When we enter another world and allow ourselves to feel.
We don’t need films that shout at us. We need films that invite us. Stories that make us care. Characters that stay with us. Worlds that make us fall in love again.
Cinema should not treat the audience as absent. It should not assume distraction. It should not compete with algorithms for attention. It should earn it.
